Since 1978, Garden Pastry has been
situated at Aljunied Crescent.
Mr. Tan Chik Heng, the founder of Garden Pastry & Cake Pte Ltd, had
been selling Japanese style of buns such as an pan bun, white loaf
breads & cakes etc.
In 1991 ~ A friend of Mr. Tan, whom is pastry chef from Hong Kong. He
came to Singapore for visit and taught Mr. Tan the receipe to create
mooncakes.
In 1992 ~ Mid-Autumn Festival, Garden Pastry started to sell their
signature Crispy Yam Mooncakes.
To maintain the freshness of yams, it went through a meticulous and
tedious process. First, the yams are freshly peeled in the morning.
Then the yams are steamed and cooked in the afternoon. Throughout
the night, it will be wrapped by our workers. And it will be freshly
fried in the next morning by founder's wife, Mdm Au Yong. Finally,
it's READY FOR SALE.
Since then, our signature Crispy Yam Mooncakes sold like hotcakes.
